Hello everyone, As I'm sure many of you have heard already, we will be going through the process of transitioning AOS into ML. When this server and project was built, it was build with the intention that this would be it, that we moved onto a better product, and a better team that can service the product for a longer time. We also mentioned that we wouldn't be doing wipes anymore with this one, like other servers (and I) have done before.. That this server was going to be the last one we create to service all the fans out there so that they know that as long as there is interest, their accounts and possessions will for the most part, stay in tact. We know of AOS's troubled history, and it seems to be just a trend in all AOS shards that they have a population, lose interest, relaunch/reset, gain popularity, and the cycle repeats itself. Well, we don't want to repeat that cycle again. Instead, we have decided that we will be activating Mondain's Legacy expansion onto AOS. What does this mean for my character and assets? Everything you have right now will remain the same, your houses, your items, your skills, and your character. The entire goal of this was that out of the 800+ unique IP's we've had play Ultima Shards in the past, that some of these people can get back into the game and pick up where they left off skill/item wise. Will there be new items and stuff to collect/obtain? Yes, there will be a plethora of items and new content to do. There will be new artifacts, items, the SE and ML new weapon types and abilities, new skills, new currency sinks, new areas, etc. Some current artifacts will also get new variations of skills that compliment the new skills as well. We will also be opening up all of the SE/ML crafting content and runics as well. All of these runics CAN be obtained by participating in BODs and turning in BODs for BOD Tickets (a new addition to the server recently), and purchased via a vendor. They will also be available to people via event/league currency, as well as purchasable with gold. Wouldn't this increase the gap between new and veteran players? To some degree, yes, however the primary goal of this is to get as many veteran players back as we can, and thus opening up the possibility of server growth by having more population. To lessen the gap, we've moved away from the 4 week +20 skills and +5 stats, everyone will get that from the moment they log in. Also, all new characters will spawn with a New Player Bonus (+30 to each stat, 75% bonus to skills upon login - if you start with 50 magery, you'll automatically get bumped up to 87.5), more starting gold, and a Starter Set of leather armor, giving +70s all resist, 100 lrc, 20 lmc, and 4 MR. Basically, we want newer players and friends of people who are already playing to immediately be able to get into the game and make an impact. Will you be creating or opening up new landmasses? Currently, no, with one exception. We will likely open up some type of Housing Area. Be it Luna or Magincia. We know that the moongate houses are typically the best areas for traffic, and currently, there are a bunch of spots available since the downtick in population. However, sometime down the road, we will open up a new area that will function as some sort of market. The entire goal though is to make sure that Felucca IS Felucca. That it remains the primary landmass where most people hang out, and Britain, the capital where most people hang out. Can we look forward to some new features? Absolutely! We have a number of new content we are working on and we have a maplist of things we want to accomplish before we expand into ML content. Part of that this is: + Enable SE and ML weapons, armor, crafting, spells, and skills (Ninjitsu, Bushido, Spellweaving), and the elf race. + Finish dungeon treasure maps. + Deactivate platforms in all towns but Britain and increase yields (to promote a steady place to PvP, instead of 10). + (Possibly) Add a new level in most dungeons with harder monsters, unique bosses, and better yields, accessible to guilds that have captured the dungeons. + Adding Spell Wands into the game. + Incorporate Peerless Bosses into the game. What are some plans on expansions beyond ML? We've always had these on the backburner, but the next 2 expansions will be: High Seas - Inclusion of many Fishing content, Boat/Ship updates, new Sea Forts (destructable NPC controlled islands with good loot/gold/unique items), and Sea Mega Champion (only damageable by ships/galleons - will become a giant naval battle between players) Fortresses - We've been teasing this one for a while, and while we've made some progress on it, it requires a ton of work, and thus, requires us to have a active playerbase to do. This one will come with giant Guild vs Guild siege battles on fortresses, the ability for Guilds to claim land and build their own metropolis', create actual markets and guild cities, and more. Is there a timeline for this ML release? Sooner rather than later. We're not planning on this being a multi month thing. We'll be working on it now and then do a mass email announcement and make it live. There is no estimated date of "launch" for it, but know that we're working hard and quick to get this live as soon as possible. Are you a PvP or PvM primary server? Both. We believe the world you travel in should be ruthless and filled with danger. As such, this is why Felucca is the primary facet, and the only facet that you can bank and place houses in. While you could travel to ilshenar and kill monsters in relative safety, the majority of the Bosses, and good loot will take place in Felucca, and you also must still travel to Felucca to do your banking, etc. We have an insane amount of PvM content and a very large amount of PvP influencing content as well and listing them here would be longer than this entire post already is. Are you hiring? Right now, yes. We are looking for in game/discord Community Managers/Event Masters. We plan on getting this done the right way and having someone dedicated to supporting the server by creating daily/bi-daily events for people to look forward to, as well as take care of setting up PvP Tournaments. We typically don't source staff from the community but we are willing to in this case and are open to upstanding individuals who have been shown to be great community members in the past. If you have experience with the GM commands, with creating events, etc, and are interested in becoming staff (for either T2A or ML), please let me know. Is there anything I can do to help? Absolutely, spread the word! We don't really have the budget anymore to be spending on advertising like we used to, so more than anything, we need players to help spread the word to those that we cannot normally reach with a email campaign. Other than spreading the word, it would be amazing to help us test the content when we need it, offer suggestions and engage in ML discussion pre-release (ML channel in discord and forums). Thank You! A giant - Thank You! - to everyone in the community who has stuck by us through whatever has gone on over the past 2 years. We are still dedicated and devoted to breathing life back into this server and as long as there is a community behind us that still believes in the project, we will continue to support it. You guys are awesome and we can't/couldn't do it without you!
